We are pleased to present a new format for the Newsletter with this issue. The volunteers who develop our periodic communications with you hope that you will find useful genealogical content, will learn about more opportunities to help you in your family research, and that you will be inspired to volunteer just a few hours a month to further the work of the Fiske Genealogical Foundation.

The newsletter is designed to be read over the internet with your web browser. As each issue is published, you will receive an e-mail advising you that you can now read the newsletter on the Fiske website.

We are asking that many of you will send an e-mail to: gzim@fiskelibrary.org advising us that you no longer need to receive a hard copy of the newsletter through the postal service.

We hope to pare the “snail” mailing list from 1000 readers to about 300 readers over the next year. However, many of our subscribers do not have internet access nor use e-mail, so we will continue to send paper copies until you tell us that you no longer need one. Every dollar saved on postal and production costs of these newsletters can go to the purchase of additional genealogical resource materials for the Library.

Later in this edition of the Newsletter, you will find details about the people responsible for the new format, our Thursday night volunteer team at the Library. My appreciation for their energy and creativity is very great. I also am grateful for the many hours of service given in the past by Mary Stevenson and Bill Eberle for their efforts in writing, producing and mailing previous editions of the newsletter.

Come to Pioneer Hall and use our resources first hand. Examine the books, take the classes, go on our field trips.

Your family research will be richly rewarded.

Gary A. Zimmermann
